Obituary: Grace I. ‘Sis’ Cambron, 89, Raywick

Grace I. “Sis” Cambron, 89, of Raywick, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She was born June 5, 1926, in Raywick to the late Joseph Clell and Josephine Galloway Mattingly. She formerly worked at Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Chester “Check” Cambron; three sons, Joseph Douglas, John Barry and Carl Michael Cambron; and two brothers, Charles Leon “Doc” Mattingly and Thomas Jasper “Pete” Mattingly.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Johnson (Albert) of Lebanon; two sons, George Cambron (Betty) and Dennis Cambron (Nadine) all of Raywick; three sisters, Joyce Ann Thomas of Raywick and Virginia “Bussie” Thomas and Diane Mills (Tommy), both of Louisville; four brothers, Clell “Al” Mattingly Jr., Larry “Hawk” Mattingly (Dorothy) and Gerald “Jake” Mattingly (Karen), all of Raywick and Merriell Mattingly (Opal) of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren, Chuck Cambron, Mark Cambron, Gi Gi Edelen, Jason Cambron, Michael Cambron, Shelly Cambron, Jay Hutchins, Craig Johnson, Tracy Johnson and Matt Cambron; and 28 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick, with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. James W. Graf will officiate.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
